Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeros
by Ida on July 29, 2009
Alex Ebert (former frontman of Ima Robot) has a new persona and a new band to go with it. Now he's Edward Sharpe and has cohort of at least ten other musicians that make up the Magnetic Zeros. The band has been big on the L.A. scene for a while, with their danceable folk-rock tunes and apparently a lively stage presence. One might expect sloppiness from a band that rolls that deep, but their sound is surprisingly polished. Their songs are lighthearted and rollicking with an added fullness that comes from unexpected elements like brass instruments, a chorus of backup vocals, and sometimes even whistling. These are from their debut album "Up From Below."
