You Belong To The City by Glenn Frey (Download)

A good friend of mine passed away yesterday.  He was in a moped accident while crossing the Williamsburg Bridge.  He has been a resident dj at the box for years and was the guy who was nice enough to bring me in and make me part of the family.  Not only did I spin with Josh twice a week, but we became close friends outside of work this summer.  We had a fourth of July weekend that will forever go down in history as well as many late nights in New York City.  He was one of the nicest people i knew.  Josh was 31 years old and will be remembered forever as a great dj, a great friend, and a great person.

Glenn Fry's "You Belong To The City" was an inside joke between us.  I will never hear this song the same.

i knew josh in high school, we didnt go to the same school, but we had a lot of the same friends. he was a pisser! Came over one night after a beastie boys concert in 1998--passed out on my floor then randomly woke up singing the 80's show "227" theme song. "There's no place like homeeee!"

Ben, Although I have never met you, I know your parents and your old babysitter (smile). I am SO incredibly sorry to hear about your loss. I lost one of my greatest friends from college when he was 24 and it was absolutely devastating!! The pictures above of Josh are amazing. I am sure that he will always be alive in your music.

Thank you for posting this...I went to college with Josh and my memories of him are certainly fond ones. Sweetest dude you'd want to meet, and so talented. He will surely be missed. My heart and thoughts go out to you, Josh, and his family and friends.

Josh is like family to me... I have known him since the day i was born and recently starting becoming friends rather just a "little sister" to him. The last time I saw him I was in the Dj booth at the Box with him dancing up a storm and could not stop telling him how amazing he is and how much i love him... I will love him forever and will never forget his smile, the happiness he brought to everyone around him, and his great music... I love you Josh <3 pictures of us as kids from the 80s are going up on my wall... he was adorable always

I knew Josh briefly at AHRC NYC, we work with adults with developmental disabilities, so the fact that he worked with us while looking for other stuff is a testiment to him being a good guy and to how he was raised! Best wishes to all of you during this tough time.

I met Josh a few times at AHRC where he worked at that time. He and members of the Curriculum Team were conducting trainings. He seemed like a fun and layed back person. I am now working for the same team he used to be a part of and now I know more about him and things he helped to do for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I feel sadened about his death even though I didn't know him. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Josh is easily the best person any of us will ever know. Live your life the way he would want you to.

My condolences to all of the Links and Josh's friends. I only met him once but I knew instantly that he was a special guy. His legacy is his music and the way he made people feel.
