With Kanye doing tracks with La Roux & Bon Iver and Lil Wayne playing the guitar, "real" hip-hop is in a questionable state. Joell Ortiz is a dude that I have been into ever since he dropped his incredible 125 grams epk video and signed to Dr. Dre only to get shelved by the Dr due to him not even being able to put out his own album.
We couldn't have asked for a better dude to do this remix. His flawless 16 bar verse in the intro is the type of thing i'd play on repeat in my bedroom growing up while picturing living in the empire state.
