Tour Diary: Samuel and Ok Go
by Samuel on November 09, 2010
Necessities of tour: Seltzer (nowhere sells it so bring a case), extra cables and DI boxes, friends, sunflower seeds, an old PS2 with Tony Hawk 2 (skills not included, be ready to lose money), and enough music to get you from one place to the next. After putting about 4000 miles on our van and spending almost 3 days total on the road, we made it home to NYC. Being on the road is a real trip (no pun intended), especially when you're on the road with a band like OK Go.
My band and I had an amazing run of shows with Ok Go and Nashville natives Those Darlins, going from Columbus, Ohio to New Orleans, with stops in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. Every venue was packed with vibrant, excited people and every show was unbelievably fun. Starting with a bang, we played on Halloween and dressed up as The Archies. We had a great time vibing out in Asheville, North Carolina. Home of friend and drummer Elliot (DJ Equal), bandmates Sarah and Julia were the stars of the set when they played their violins, and the sold out show in Nashville was unreal! Tim and Dan from Ok Go, famous for their theatrics, put on dresses and pranked tour mates Those Darlins during their set. Our last night in New Orleans was awesome, we had some fantastic food (Alligator!) and got to hang out in the city, although we all wished it wasn't the end of the tour.
I'm working on a little video compilation with some live footage and if you didn't hear my remix of OK Go's "White Knuckles" you can check it out on soundcloud here!
